Forks over Knives: Cream of Brocolli Deluxe recipe

5/5 rating Stock: 1 large onion, 2 stalks celery, including some leaves, 2 large carrots chopped, 1 bunch green onions, chopped, 8 cloves garlic, minced, 8 sprigs fresh parsley, 6 sprigs fresh thyme, 2 bay leaves, and 2 quarts water. I kind of lightly cook everything for about 10 minutes in a frying pan, throw it in the crock pot with water and let it simmer. Soup: 6 cups vegetable stock 1 rounded cup cashews 1 medium onion, finely chopped 1 celery stalk, finely chopped 1 clove garlic minced 1/2 large red bell pepper, chopped 2 medium unpeeled potatoes, cubed 1 large head brocolli, including stem, about 4 cups 2 tsp dried thyme 1 tsp sea salt (I used 2.25 since no salt in stock) 1/2 tsp black pepper (I used 1.24 tsp) Makes 6 servings and those servings are big! Based on the size of the pot, I would assume at minimum, 2 c’s but probably more. Puree 1 cup of the veg. stock with the cashews in a blender until smooth. Set aside. In a large pot, cook the onion, celery and carrot over medium heat in 1 c of the veg stock for 5 min. Add the garlic, bell pepper and potatoes and cook for 2 more minutes. Add the remaining 4 c of stock and the brocolli, thyme, salt and black pepper and bring to a boil over high heat. Cover and simmer until the brocolli and potatoes are soft, about 10 minutes (Ok, do not cook it this long, trust me, just cook it until the brocolli is a nice deep green, I admit, my brocolli was a little over done) Add the cashew mixture to the soup and stir until mixed

  4. Question…Do you puree or blend the whole batch of soup prior to serving or just half of it leaving some of the veges whole? I am just unclear on that point. YOur finished product appears to be fully blended. Looks and sounds delicious! Thanks for posting.

    I just started watching your videos and they make me hungry – lol ;) . It looks yummy but it’s not quite cold enough here yet for soup – opposite weather of what you guys are having :) . I’m going to come back to this when it’s colder – yum yum :) .

  10. @tommybrisbane2011 Just read my comments in the description and don’t cook it as long as it says. Cook the brocolli until it is a nice green and stop. Mine was a little over cooked, but it is still delicious. Tell me how you like it.

  16. @AlwaysTanna I have to admit, it is really yummy. It is cold and rainy here right now and I just love soup on those days. Growing up, in bad weather, my mother always had a pot of something or other on the stove. I remember coming home from grade school on lunch and hearing it simmering in the pot, smelling it when you walked in the door. Yummy!

  20. @Reset2Day It was good. Also interesting is that it is 6 servings and let me tell you, it is a hearty serving. It makes a lot of soup and 200 something calories. Oh, you just reminded me I forgot to post the calories.

As soon as I saw the movie, I bought the book. I also want to get the one Rebooter recommended because I am slowly moving over to this way of eating :)

  27. I believe in them totally!! I usually cut the dose though. I am a distance runner and use them before and after workouts.. I have nothing but good results.. Of course read label and warnings before use… I get pumped after runs and also recover much quicker.. it works well when adding whey protein shakes as well. GOOD LUCK IF YOU TRY IT AND BE CAREFUL IF YOUR BODY DOSENT LIKE THEM…

  35. love the channel will, good sound advice and find your vids to be very beneficial. I recently began experimenting with NO supps. I have been taking a a pretty high dose (10g) of L-Arginine, 5g in the morning/5g preworkout, going on 3 weeks now. I have definitely noticed an increase in energy and recovery during workouts, and as for the “pump”, I don’t think it is larger, but it lasts longer. I feel pumped long after I leave the gym. This is a much higher dose then you find in most NO supps.

  37. i agree with most of your videos but if your saying that all nitric oxide supplements are bs then you are wrong you may study it but do you actually take it? we are the ones trying it out and they do work, they are loaded with caffine so are you saying that it doesnt make you have more energy strength and blah blah im pretty sure caffine has effects on your body so for you too say it does nothing you are wrong, my viens definatly poped out more, are you telling me that those viens in my armRfake

  47. ive taken the NO-EXPLODE supliment product befor rugby games a couple of times. and ive found the effects very very good. i get an energy boost for a good hour, and i mean, AN ENERGY BOOST. however, i hav’nt been takeing befor the gym.
    given what ive seen here, i think im gona leave it. thinking a good meal and a can of red bull would do the same job.
