Forks over Knives: Cream of Brocolli Deluxe recipe

5/5 rating Stock: 1 large onion, 2 stalks celery, including some leaves, 2 large carrots chopped, 1 bunch green onions, chopped, 8 cloves garlic, minced, 8 sprigs fresh parsley, 6 sprigs fresh thyme, 2 bay leaves, and 2 quarts water. I kind of lightly cook everything for about 10 minutes in a frying pan, throw it in the crock pot with water and let it simmer. Soup: 6 cups vegetable stock 1 rounded cup cashews 1 medium onion, finely chopped 1 celery stalk, finely chopped 1 clove garlic minced 1/2 large red bell pepper, chopped 2 medium unpeeled potatoes, cubed 1 large head brocolli, including stem, about 4 cups 2 tsp dried thyme 1 tsp sea salt (I used 2.25 since no salt in stock) 1/2 tsp black pepper (I used 1.24 tsp) Makes 6 servings and those servings are big! Based on the size of the pot, I would assume at minimum, 2 c’s but probably more. Puree 1 cup of the veg. stock with the cashews in a blender until smooth. Set aside. In a large pot, cook the onion, celery and carrot over medium heat in 1 c of the veg stock for 5 min. Add the garlic, bell pepper and potatoes and cook for 2 more minutes. Add the remaining 4 c of stock and the brocolli, thyme, salt and black pepper and bring to a boil over high heat. Cover and simmer until the brocolli and potatoes are soft, about 10 minutes (Ok, do not cook it this long, trust me, just cook it until the brocolli is a nice deep green, I admit, my brocolli was a little over done) Add the cashew mixture to the soup and stir until mixed

  2. Thank you for posting this recipe! You made me soo hungry I had to make it this morning and I had it for breakfast. Words cant describe how good this soup is!!!! This is going on my permanent recipe rotation!!! Thanks again!!!! :)

  3. @TheCampnurse I pureed the whole thing. It really is good, I recommend it strongly.

  4. Question…Do you puree or blend the whole batch of soup prior to serving or just half of it leaving some of the veges whole? I am just unclear on that point. YOur finished product appears to be fully blended. Looks and sounds delicious! Thanks for posting.

  5. @sselerac Thanks!

  6. @LuZenIt2012 That is a keeper and I have made it again. It’s yummy.

  7. @elodie9 Wooohooooooooooooooooo. It really isn’t hard and tastes really good. So glad I have another person who has tried it. Let me know if you try any recipes and what you think and I will follow you!

  8. @howlotusgothergroove Lucky you! It’s kind of cold and rainy right now, not pleasant at all!

I just started watching your videos and they make me hungry – lol ;) . It looks yummy but it’s not quite cold enough here yet for soup – opposite weather of what you guys are having :) . I’m going to come back to this when it’s colder – yum yum :) .

  10. @tommybrisbane2011 Just read my comments in the description and don’t cook it as long as it says. Cook the brocolli until it is a nice green and stop. Mine was a little over cooked, but it is still delicious. Tell me how you like it.

  11. @Trinette75 Sad but true, lol. It worked, thank God. I love the hand held thing, perfect for all kinds of things.

  12. @sarahmummyof2 You might call them scallions, green onions here.

  13. “since the 80′s and a margarita phase” bahahahaha lmao love it! How did the old girl work…the blender, not YOU haha. I love my ‘barmixer’ the hand held one…it’s what i call it.
    Recipe looks healthy and YUMMY!!

  14. you can get green onion lmao x

  15. @WayneTillis The irony that my first Forks Over Knives recipe requires a spoon went right over my head, lmao! Thanks. As for raking the leaves, anytime you and your family are in my neck of the woods, I will happily make you a meal (without any chore requirement!)

  16. @AlwaysTanna I have to admit, it is really yummy. It is cold and rainy here right now and I just love soup on those days. Growing up, in bad weather, my mother always had a pot of something or other on the stove. I remember coming home from grade school on lunch and hearing it simmering in the pot, smelling it when you walked in the door. Yummy!

  17. @marionpjohnson I am a big fan of cream of brocolli soup (my own) so I was really interested to try this and it absolutely can replace my own in terms of flavour, seriously. Give it a try and tell me what you think :)

  18. It looks really yummy :-) good job :-)

  19. looks and sounds super yummy!! Thank you for the recipe too. I loooove cream of broccalli soup.

  20. @Reset2Day It was good. Also interesting is that it is 6 servings and let me tell you, it is a hearty serving. It makes a lot of soup and 200 something calories. Oh, you just reminded me I forgot to post the calories.

  21. Looked mmm mmm good :)

  22. @AmandaB4588 I have to tell you, when I went to the store, including the organic store and was looking at the ingredients in stock, I thought better of it and decided to make my own. As soon as I saw the movie, I bought the book. I also want to get the one Rebooter recommended because I am slowly moving over to this way of eating :)

  23. @JuiceFeastinJenn It was really good. I would put it up against my regular cream of brocolli soup as far as flavour goes and let’s face it, this is WAY healthier!

  24. Oh gosh. That looks amazing!

  25. @gillgamas Too late ;) I always end up with a cut or burn when I get on a cooking jaunt :)

  26. Are they supplements for vascular/artery health?
To maintain them strong & healthy ?

  27. I believe in them totally!! I usually cut the dose though. I am a distance runner and use them before and after workouts.. I have nothing but good results.. Of course read label and warnings before use… I get pumped after runs and also recover much quicker.. it works well when adding whey protein shakes as well. GOOD LUCK IF YOU TRY IT AND BE CAREFUL IF YOUR BODY DOSENT LIKE THEM…

  28. owned!!!! lol

  29. bad audio

  30. Great video will. Totally agree. All these bullshit things supp industry says to get people to buy their stuff is beyond crazy.

  31. Ive heard how NO dosent work but when me and my friends started taking it we notice huge pumps and more veins. Just yesterday for the first time in years my wife said WOW look at how veiny your arms are. So it works…but again I hear so many people calling it bullshit.

  32. I began lifting weights, losing weight and regaining my health and fitness some thirteen months ago…But, no one really noticed anything significant about my transformation until I introduced NO Xplode about 3 and a half months ago…It feels and looks like I’ve exchanged my previous body for one ten years younger, twice as muscular and strong…This product delivers massive energy and strength, enabling me to get through much more rigorous workouts than before…And, for that edge, I endorse.

  33. I think that an objective appraisal from the perspective of folks who actually take these supplements should easily override the biased conjecture of a scientist who hasn’t indulged these products, or conducted any experiments on those who have ingested them…

  34. Would you know anything about these new Force Factor, it’s also a NO2.

  35. love the channel will, good sound advice and find your vids to be very beneficial. I recently began experimenting with NO supps. I have been taking a a pretty high dose (10g) of L-Arginine, 5g in the morning/5g preworkout, going on 3 weeks now. I have definitely noticed an increase in energy and recovery during workouts, and as for the “pump”, I don’t think it is larger, but it lasts longer. I feel pumped long after I leave the gym. This is a much higher dose then you find in most NO supps.

  36. Can you do a video on nitrates?

  37. i agree with most of your videos but if your saying that all nitric oxide supplements are bs then you are wrong you may study it but do you actually take it? we are the ones trying it out and they do work, they are loaded with caffine so are you saying that it doesnt make you have more energy strength and blah blah im pretty sure caffine has effects on your body so for you too say it does nothing you are wrong, my viens definatly poped out more, are you telling me that those viens in my armRfake

  38. “and I am a scientist.” pfffft why not share your credentials with us, Mr. Brink? otherwise, great videos.

  42. Very informative video. What are your thoughts on protein? Is it scientifically proven to help muscle growth. Increased protein intake is one of the only things that really works for me…

  43. Your info is really good to sort out FAQ about bodybuilding myths & truths. Thanks.

  44. will brink…what do you think about the latest NO2 RED???

  45. @lewisbyrnand i took no explode for the first time today and lift an average of 10-15 kilos more than normal

  46. thanks 4 shootin it to us straight. it iswhat it is

  47. ive taken the NO-EXPLODE supliment product befor rugby games a couple of times. and ive found the effects very very good. i get an energy boost for a good hour, and i mean, AN ENERGY BOOST. however, i hav’nt been takeing befor the gym.
given what ive seen here, i think im gona leave it. thinking a good meal and a can of red bull would do the same job.

thanks for the summery and explained very well.

  48. I noticed that a cup of coffe pre workout gives me the same energy as an n.o product

  49. it was all in your head you could of accomplished all of that without it if you just set your mind to it and pushyourself a little…but hey if you need some chemical powder mixed in water to make you grow some balls go ahead…
